You never grow too old, nor too good, for feedback.
This past week began and ended with some insightful professionals providing me with the gift of feedback. Their thoughts further opened my eyes to patterns of thinking and areas where I had, perhaps, gotten “stuck.”
Part of the result has been a further refinement of my brand, found on my Web site (www.dev.johnmichaeldemarco.com) and in resumes and standard cover letters. Another outcome was the epiphany that I was holding back on some of my creativity, having unwittingly fallen into a rut of just sounding like everyone else in terms of what I do professionally. I took the “solutions-focused” counseling approach to myself in the past couple of days, remembering the contexts in which I typically am at the top of my game.
Keep seeking feedback. Don’t let pride, complacency or the success you’ve already had get in the way. There’s no ceiling on excellence!
